A Trip Down Memory Lane

Tonight I started looking at old pictures from High School and Kenzie could tell you I was dying. Bursts of laugher after every click.
I miss my crazy friends and I can't wait to go home and take more crazy pictures with them.
 I'll show you some highlights.

There are so many other good ones that I'm sure I missed but there are just a few of the ones that made me burst out laughing. I hope you got a good laugh out of them too.

These pictures make me miss high school. I absolutely loved high school. I was so lucky to be involved in everything I was involved in and to have the amazing friends I had. I miss it all. Glad I have these pictures to remember all the good times. Can't wait to see you crazy Herndon-ites in a few weeks!
Love and miss you all!

24 Days. I can do it.

"It isn’t as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don’t worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. … If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers." -Pres. Hinckley

I absolutely love this quote. I've been really trying to keep that in mind these last couple weeks.
Things always work out.
Life goes on, things get better.
I'm trying to not get caught up with the little things that may be going wrong in my life.
It's really hard though.
I'm so ready to be home and so ready to be done with school that I'm struggling to stay determined to be happy, even though that's my life motto.
I have 24 days left of school and then I'm done.
I'm struggling to find motivation to get through those 24 days,
but I know that no matter what, those 24 days will pass and I'll get home and I'll be done with school.

So for the next 24 days I'm going to wake up in the morning and say:

"It isn’t as bad as you think it is.
It all works out.
Don’t worry.
The Lord will not forsake me.
He will not forsake me."

If you are struggling too, try this with me! Together we will get through whatever we are struggling with.

happy day!

Today is a great day.
A FREAKING GREAT DAY.

Here is why:
I got a 96% on my New Testament Test.
Which to some may seem not as great as it is because it's a religion class,
BUT
I struggle with this teacher's tests, and just tests in general.
I had him for Book of Mormon too and I never did that well on his tests.
I got a 60 something on the last one, just to give you some idea of how great a 96 is.
If you are wondering why I still take from this teacher even though I struggle with his tests it's because he is the most amazing teacher ever. He cares so much for each one of his students, he knows them all by name. Which is pretty amazing for a BYU professor. Not only does he know the names of the students he currently has but he remembers the names of all his previous students. That's just plain amazing. (Hank Smith everyone, you must take a class from him if you come to BYU. YOU MUST.)

^^ this may be the best feeling ever. ^^

Anyways..let's get back on topic.

The weather today is SUPERB. Like windows down, sunglasses on, hang out outside kind of weather.
Which is something rather amazing for Utah in early March.

I have a outfit I love on today.
I didn't have it on all day but I have it on now and I feel so east coast-y and I love it.

I had lunch with my sister.
So good to catch up.
And I have my sister's car.
I have the best sister in the world.
Like seriously.
She is so good to me.
She is so patient and kind and just plain great.
I'm glad we are friends now.
Love you sis.

The day isn't even over.
Playing night games on campus tonight and hopefully hitting golf balls of a mountain.
Yup. It doesn't get much better than this.

I hope you had an amazing day as well!
Keep on keepin' on!
Be happy!
:)

Things Tina Talked Me Into

Tina Childs. Also known as Christina Childs. Also known as Teens.
This girl is one of the most persuasive people I know.
Like seriously I'm pretty sure she can talk anyone into anything.
Which usually is a good thing.
As a matter of fact, she talked me into writing this blog..

So. Here are just some of the things this girl has talked in into doing.

Tina talked me into hiking the Y at midnight. Not that wild of a thing but it was spontaneous and great. It was a little chilly and there was for sure snow and ice but it was well worth it once we go to the top. The view was amazing. I think the best part thought was that my knee could handle it. It was getting a little shaky at the end but that was probably just because it was like 2 in the morning.

Tina talked me into camping at Zion's National Park. In February. With no real plan. If you know me at all you know that I love a good plan. It's difficult for me to do things without a plan. But if you know Tina at all you know that the meaning of the word plan to her is, "let's do something!" And that something is unknown until you are already knee deep in the activity. So I think it's safe to say I'm adjusting to life with Tina. haha Anyways, we decided on Thursday we'd go camping Friday night at Zion's. I borrowed my cousins tent and sleeping bag and my sister's car (thanks everyone) and we were off on Friday afternoon. We had no back up plan for if we didn't get a spot at the Zion's campground which slightly stressed me out, but I went with the flow. It was freezing but so fun. So worth it.

Tina talked into kissing a stranger in Walmart. Yea. Gross right? Please enjoy the story behind that statement. We were doing a scavenger hunt where different items on a list earned you points. Most were between 1-10 points but 3 things earned you 50 points. And one of those things was to kiss a random stranger. I was in a group with Tina, Kenzie, and one of Tina's friends, Josh. Either Tina or Kenzie had the brillant idea of having me kiss a stranger because I'm a least likely to do it. I went along honestly thinking it wouldn't actually happen. And after 5 guys said no for various reasons (I have a girlfriend, I don't speak english, I'm working, I'm sick...) my ego was a little crushed and I had even less faith in this actually happening. But then 3 boys walked by and our friend Josh stopped him and asked if they'd all kiss one of us. They were all down. The first boy beelined for Tina and the second Kenzie called. That left me with a not-so-bad looking boy with a camo hat, huge belt buckle, and big army-style boots. Cool guys. But I did it. There is even a picture to prove it. But I'm not showing you. Sorry yo. In the end we didn't end up winning. So it was all for nothing. A cool college story I guess?

I'm sure there is more Tina has talked me into doing but I'm drawing a blank right now. Moral of these stories is that Tina Childs is one great girl. So glad she moved out west to be with me. OK not really with me..but I like to think so. :) Thanks girl for the fun you make me have! Love you!

My Valentine's Day

Like I said in the other Valentine's Day post this year I had a new outlook on the whole "Day of Love" thing. I was determined not to be depressed or feel sorry for myself since I'm single. I'm happy single. It leaves me available to every beautiful man that wants me. (And by every I mean no one.) But seriously I have so many reasons to be happy on Valentine's day that it's pathetic and embarrassing to throw myself a pity party every February 14th.

So anyways, this year I was excited for Valentine's. I was excited to celebrate the love I have and how my love will only increase throughout my life. I didn't do all I had planned, but it only motivates me more for next year. But here are the things that did happen this year-

Monday night around 11pm I had a knock on my door. I was home alone so I couldn't make Makenzie get it. I'm never happy about having to get out of my bed to open the door but this time I was especially upset because I was watching a really good movie. But reluctantly I jumped out of bed and opened my door to find single rose with my name on it. I didn't say who it was from. I was so intrigued and honestly I thought it was a joke. I almost immediately called Makenzie to ask if it was her and our friends she was with. To my surprise, it was not them. Then I texted my sister to see if her or Jason had sent it. Nope. Not them either. I even asked my Dad. They all could be lying but I'm fairly good at seeing through their lies. So I stopped trying to figure out who it was and just began to fantasize about who it could be. Some wonderful friend who thought to make sure I had at least something on Valentine's? A stalker who drugged it so he could kidnapp me? Or could it be this boy in one of my classes that I love who is just too shy to tell me he feels the same way I do and we should get married? I choose the third option. But in all seriousness, thanks boy in my class. I love you too.

Me and my Rose :)

So that was the long drawn out story of my anonymous rose. It was just the kick-off to the rest of my wonderful Valentine's day. While going to class I just smiled and was happy for the couples. I got excited seeing all the boys hiding roses behind their backs waiting for their girlfriends to come out of class. I loved watching the girls walk around smelling their flowers with an un-erasable smile on their face. I think I just love seeing people happy. Which in turn makes me happy.

But if all that wasn't enough I get a package from my Dad with one dozen GEORGETOWN CUPCAKES. For those of you who are noobs to the Cupcake world they are some of the best cupcakes out there. And even better than that, they are from home. So wonderful. And my wonderful roommate Makenzie brought my nummy ice cream. Isn't she sweet?

And to top it all off I had a fun night with my girls. We ate cupcakes and watched Water for Elephants.

What a wonderful Valentine's Day I had. Love you all my loyal blog readers! I hope you also felt the love on Valentine's Day!

Nerves

Stupid nerves. I'm about to meet with this man who wants to hire me as an assistant lacrosse coach for a new U-15 league and I'm flippin' nervous. I could barely sleep last night. I kept waking up worried I slept through my alarm. I basically already have the job I don't know why I'm so nervous but I might be slightly freaking out. I have no idea what this man looks like, acts like, or anything really about him. And I know very little about this league. Hence the meeting. But still. I'm nervous. Hopefully this helps me get my nerves out. I'm going to give myself a pep talk. (Man, every old-ish man that walks by I try to look nice just in case it's him. I hate this!) Anyways- Pep Talk!

I may not be the best lacrosse player by a long shot, but I am great with people. I am kind. I am understanding, and I just love lacrosse which makes me qualified right? It's just an assistant job so I'll be observing, getting to know the program, taking in all I can, and probably just doing what they tell me. Which is low stress. I wont have any huge responsibilities. But if I were to be given some I would be able to handle it. I am really good at getting organized and planning things. I can easily act like a 15 year old. I can connect with these girls no problem. I can coach them and help them out easily. Trust in that! I am qualified for this job. And if nothing else, I am from the east. That makes me special right?

Oh my goodness. That helped but I'm still nervous. Sorry all you avid blog readers, this blog was for me more than for anyone else. Maybe a lesson you could take away from this is that it's ok to give yourself pep talks? Like Alec Baldwin did in 30 Rock. It's perfectly normal. Right?

excuse the minor poor use of language.

Ok. Meeting done. Really I had no reason to be worried. He was just so desperate for any type to help he could get. So basically that's why he wants me. haha Anyways I'm  super excited about it. Try-outs start March 8 and the Tournaments are in June. So I have to stay for spring which is kind of a bummer. But it's worth it for lacrosse. :)
